About Us

People’s Endeavour for Social Changes (PESCH) was established in 1995 in response to a humanitarian crisis in the Tousem area of Manipur. During that year, widespread bamboo flowering triggered a severe rat infestation, which destroyed standing crops and food stores, leading to acute food insecurity and famine. Many families struggled to survive, and several people lost their lives due to hunger. Witnessing this crisis, a group of concerned community leaders came together to organize a collective response under the campaign for a hunger-free society. Their shared vision was not only to provide immediate relief but also to address the root causes of poverty, food insecurity, and vulnerability.
