About Us
| PAJHRA (Promotion and Advancement of Justice, Harmony and Rights of Adivasis) emerged from the collective efforts of Adivasi leaders, social workers, and intellectuals in Assam who came together with a shared concern for the identity, well-being, and development of the Adivasi community. The idea of establishing a common platform was first discussed during a consultation of Adivasi leaders held in Guwahati in November 2001. The consultation highlighted the importance of having an apex body that could provide coordination and support for initiatives related to social well-being, cultural preservation, leadership development, and community representation. The organisation was subsequently named PAJHRA, symbolising a “life spring” for the community, and was formally established in 2003 following its registration under the Societies Registration Act.
