About Us
MOSONiE Socio-Economic Foundation (MOSONiE SEF) is a women-led non-profit organisation founded in 2015 and registered in 2016 under the Section 8 Companies Act. The name MOSONiE comes from the Mao tribal language of Manipur and means “”Creation of Commonwealth”” — a philosophy rooted in the belief that when communities share resources and responsibilities together, everyone rises. The idea can be simply put as: “”less of me, more of us.””
Headquartered in Umtyrnga Village, Ri-Bhoi District, Meghalaya, MOSONiE works at the grassroots level with some of the most underserved and geographically remote communities in the Northeast. Today, the organisation actively reaches:
Over 2,000 households and individuals through Sustainable Livelihood Promotion programmes
Over 20,000 women and adolescent girls through Health & Hygiene initiatives
MOSONiE works primarily with tribal communities — including the Khasi, Garo, Rabha, and Mikir peoples in Meghalaya, and the Poumai and Maram tribes in Senapati District, Manipur. The organisation places women, adolescent girls, youth and small-scale farming households at the heart of everything it does.
